What is the Free Fire World Series? – A Complete Guide
The Free Fire World Series (FFWS) can be labeled as the biggest event in the Free Fire community. It is the professional world championship held annually by Garena. There is a total prize money of $ 02 Million USD. The 2021 edition of the FFWS was the most watched esports at that time.
The Free Fire World Series is a top of the line esports championship that allows the best teams from different regions of the world to compete for the title. It uses the squad battle royale mode. The championship has 48 players and 12 teams. Each team consists of 4 players. These players are airdropped onto an island. They donโt have any weapon or armor with them and need to collect them on their own. You have to participate again and again in FF Advance Server so that you can easily join FF World Series.
Then the teams play against each other, and the last one that survives wins the title. Players get points based on the final rank of their team and the number of eliminations.
Inaugural Edition 2019
The FFWS was first launched in 2019. Was held in the month of November at Barra Olympic Park in Rio de Janeiro. It involved 12 teams coming from the Middle East, North America, Latin America, Eurasia, India, Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, and Brazil. It was won by the Brazilian team, called the Corithians. The prize money was $400,000 USD.
2020 Cancellation
The FFWS 2020 was canceled due to COVID-19 pandemic. It was replaced by the Free Fire Continental Series 2020. It was held on April 19 and was held for three different regions as three separate events. The regions were EMEA, Asia and Americas.
For each event the prize money was $300,000. 18 teams participated in each event. EXP Esports won the Asia region, Sbornaya Chr won the EMEA region and Team Liquid won the Americas region.
FFWS 2021
It was held at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore in 2021. Garena announced $2 Million USD prize money for this championship. 18 teams fought for this title and it was won by team Phoenix Force.
FFWS 2022
In 2022 there were two editions of FFWS. The first event was held at the Resort World Sentosa convention center. A total of 18 teams from around the world fought for the prize money of $2 Million USD. Team Attack All Around was declared the champion in the finale.
In the second FFWS which was held in Bangkok, 17 teams competed. The prize money was the same $2 Million USD. EVOS Phoenix won the championship.
FFWS 2023
The 2023 Series was also held in Bangkok. It has a prize money of $1 Million USD. 18 teams participated. Brazil, Indonesia and Thailand each had three participating teams. Argentina, Mexico, Colombia, Morocco, Pakistan and Malaysia had 1 team each. The championship was won by a team from Brazil called Magic Squad.
FFWS 2024
FFWS 2024 is planned to be held in November 2024. The championship has different qualification paths for different regions. 2024 Esports World Cup – Free Fire, FFWS SouthEast Asia 2024 Fall, FFWS Brazil 2024, FFWS LATAM 2024, FFWS Middle East and Africa 2024 are the qualification paths.
